About the Artist

Karen born in East Riding of Yorkshire and has dabbled in the arts since a child she did an A level in Art and an Art and Design Foundation Course at Beverley which opened up her mind to many creative ideas, experimenting with different mediums, 2D and 3D and as part of the course gaining a City and Guilds in photography.  A change of direction saw her then gain a Law Degree, Legal Practice Course and undertake Tax exams, but the desire to be an artist has meant she has moved her life around and now lives back in a beautiful village in the county of her birth.

Surrounding herself with animals including 4 dogs and 2 horses it was a natural progression into animal portraiture which she currently offers as commissions, the main focus of which is to capture the character of her subject, all animals just like people have their own ways, different life stories and to capture just a small bit of this helps bring the portrait to life.

Living in an rural setting brings the wildlife literally to her door step, a beautiful pheasant came by a few times knocking at the patio doors, a snail slithered over the doorbell which set it off ringing and a shrew came running in and bizarrely ran half way up the wall before running back out as well as the odd mouse the cats bring in or song bird that manages to fly in through an open window.  This has lead to a growing collection of Yorkshire Wildlife, artwork showing various wild animals with flat caps on.
